The Ottawa County Emergency Management
Agency's staff consists of four full-time employees: Director, Deputy
Director/Radiological Officer, Deputy Director/Safety
Officer and Administrative Assistant. The EMA offices also host a State
Resident Radiological Analyst and a Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station
Utility Liaison.
James Greer:
Jim was appointed Ottawa County Emergency Management Agency's first full-time
director in November of 1979. He is responsible for the administration and
direction of the agency and the planning and development of the overall program.
A lifelong resident of Port Clinton, Jim graduated from Bowling Green State
University with a Bachelor of Science degree in education. He has taken
post-graduate courses at the Emergency Management Institute, Emmitsburg,
Maryland, the Harvard School of Public Health, Boston, Massachusetts, and from
the Ohio Emergency Management Agency, Columbus, Ohio.
Jim chairs the Ottawa County 9-1-1 Advisory Board. He is a member of the
800MHz Radio Advisory Board and serves on the Ohio Nuclear Emergency Planning
Advisory Committee. Jim has also served on the Ottawa County Red Cross Advisory
Board and The Ottawa County Board of Social Concerns. He is also affiliated with
Ottawa County Fire and EMS Chiefs Association, Ottawa County Township Trustees
and Clerks Association and the Emergency Management Association of Ohio.
Mike
Drusbacky:
Mike has over 16 years experience in
the emergency management field. In cooperation with the Ohio Emergency
Management Agency and Davis-Besse personnel, he develops, evaluates, modifies,
coordinates and conducts training activities in support of the Ottawa County
Radiological Emergency Response Plan and Standard Operating Procedures. He also
assists in the development, evaluation and modification of the plan and
procedures, and assists in the development of scenarios for drills/exercises.
Mike participates in public information/education
activities, serves as a Public Information Officer and provides assistance
during natural and technological emergencies, drills and exercises. His duties
as Public Information Officer include preparing and disseminating press
releases, participating in media briefings and rumor control.
Mike is a graduate of the University of Toledo, with a
Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications. His post- graduate studies have
included course work at the Emergency Management Institute and Harvard School of
Public Health.
Fred
Petersen:
Fred has been with the Ottawa County Emergency Management Agency for over seven years. His responsibilities include coordinating the County's Employee
Safety Program, acting as the County's Loss Control Coordinator, planning and responding to hazardous materials emergencies, and other miscellaneous
assignments. Fred chairs the Ottawa County Local Emergency Planning
Committee, the County Safety Committee, and the County Risk Management Committee. In addition, he serves on the Safety Council of Northwest Ohio,
the Ottawa County Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Team Advisory Board, the Brush Wellman Community Advisory Panel, and the Western Lake Erie Area
Contingency Planning Committee.
Fred is a lifelong resident of Ottawa County, residing in Oak Harbor with his
wife and five children. He is a graduate of the University of Findlay, with
a Bachelor of Science in Environmental and Hazardous Materials Management.
He is also a firefighter with Portage Fire District in Oak Harbor and is a member of the Ottawa County Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Team.
Beth Koch:
Beth has been the administrative assistant with Ottawa County EMA since April of 2004. She comes to us with over 18 year of experience in office administration. Her responsibilities include: tracking grant expenditures, maintaining the Radiological Emergency Response Plan and standard operating procedures for the agency, processing cost recovery billings, purchase orders, pay-ins, vouchers and responding to officials, general public or media inquiries. She serves as Emergency Operations Center Coordinator during an actual event and is also the recording secretary for the Local Emergency Planning Committee and the Ottawa County Homeland Security Advisory Team.
Sonia
Eischen:
Sonia has been a Radiological Analyst with the State of Ohio EMA for over 16
years assigned to the Davis Besse planning area. She is a Registered
Technologist in Radiography by the American Registry of Radiologic
Technologists. Her day-to-day responsibilities include emergency preparedness
planning and training. In an emergency situation, Sonia oversees dose assessment
calculations and advises the Executive Group in matters pertaining to protective
action recommendations for the public and for the emergency workers.
Prior to joining the state, she worked in the hospital
radiology area for 30 years in various capacities including Special Procedures
Technologist, Technical Chief and Educational Coordinator. In addition, she
taught Radiological Technology at Owens Technical College (now Owens Community
College) for 3 years.
Reggie
Strauss:
Reggie has been an employee with the First Energy Corporation for over 19 years. He works in the Emergency Preparedness section at the Davis Besse Nuclear Power Station and serves as liaison between the Utility and County in matters relating to Davis Besse.
Reggie is the Manager for the 800 MHz radio system and associated support equipment, he oversees the operation and maintenance of the system.
In addition, he served as Project Manager for the upgrade and addition of 32 sirens for the county’s outdoor warning system.
He is a member of the 800 MHz Advisory Board and a member of the 800 MHz Users Group. Reggie is also the Liaison to the Sandusky County Emergency Management Agency.
